Dear Josh,
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with your translations. Did you know how to translate the sentences automatically or did you need to use an online website to help you? I personally knew how to translate the 'Hello,' 'Please' and 'How Much Does it Cost' phrases but I didn't know how to say 'I would like a taxi' or 'I'm lost. How do I get to the Hilton hotel?' My son, Aronui, is half-Maori so he might have been able to help me. He's been learning Te Reo in school. Do you have a Maori language class at Pt England?
kÅrero ki a koutou hohoro,
Rachel
Hello Josh,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post to read! I am currently living in Germany, and I am learning German. I know a few useful German phrases which help me when I am around town and trying to get to places or buy my groceries. Because I live close to the border of France though, I really appreciate how important it is to have a few useful phrases 'up your sleeve' to help when trying to get around - I must confess I struggle a bit with this, and you have inspired me to jot down just a few phrases to have with me when I go next time.
You have chosen some really useful phrases! Like Rachel, I knew 'Kia Ora' and 'Tena', but I did not know the other phrases. Thanks for your post! Looking forward to catching up on some of your other posts soon.
Nga mihi,
Carolyn
