SLJ: My Destination

I wanted to travel to the United Kingdom because they know the same language as me.  I also wanted to go there because I wanted to look at the Queens palace and take the train through the Chunnel to France.

Some facts about the United Kingdom that I found are:

In the United Kingdom, if you reach your 100th birthday you get a personalisedj card from the Queen.
In the UK accents (how you say a language) change noticeably about every 40 kilometres.
The oldest house in the UK is nearly 6000 years old and has stone furniture that is still together.

This is the oldest house in the UK

  1. Hi Joshua!! I am so thrilled to see that you have joined the Summer Learning Journey. Welcome!

I think that you have made a great choice to travel to the U.K. It is a beautiful country and, in fact, I have had the privilege of living and teaching there. When I lived in England I actually traveled to the house that you have posted a picture of on your blog to see it. It was pretty special to be there and to know that there was so much history an that so many others had lived in the country before me.

I think that you have discovered some really interesting facts about the United Kingdom and I look forward to reading more about what you discover as your summer journey continues.

Thank you again for joining us! I'll look forward to blogging with you over the next few weeks :)

    Cheers,

    Rachel

  2. Hello Joshua,

Thanks for the interesting information about the U.K. I can totally relate to your reason for travelling to the U.K. because they speak the same language... I now live in Germany, and I am now learning German! It is definitely not easy to communicate when you don't speak the local language!

I am looking forward to catching up on more of your blog posts, great blogging!!

    Cheers,
    Carolyn
